Information about World Central Kitchen
Founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit that is the first emergency responder, providing food during crises. By deploying our rapid response model, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, WCK has served over 400 million nutritious meals around the world.
When disaster strikes, WCK’s team of first-responder chefs act with urgency to begin cooking and serving food to people in need. By partnering with local organizations and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to disaster survivors quickly and efficiently. In order to support affected communities, WCK prioritizes purchasing local ingredients to cook or distribute directly to families in need.
We know that good food not only nourishes, but also offers comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis. Learn more at wck.org.
